Yes, it takes good photos… I mostly use it for photos of water and flowers/foliage and it cuts the glare very nicely. BUT.. it can be a huge pain when it gets jammed on the UV filter (also a Hoya) and it is one S.O.B. to clean.. May the gods help you if you get a finger print or something or other on the filter glass.. ARG– it is wipe wipe wipe and wipe some more to get it clean. Took me ten minutes the last time it happened. A true pain to deal with. So it goes on easy, takes nice photos, doesn’t like to come off and takes revenge when it get touched in the wrong places. Some reviews have mentioned that it does not like water and the glass will stain. Also that it easily scratches. I’m not sure about that but… Hey, I thought Hoya was a top brand.  It is a must have filter,

I just tried for a short time for river photos against sun, and was pretty pleased the way it controls the reflections and the clours. I never had any problem in taking the filter off/on-as long as one handles it, just like any delicate piece of instrument, it should work. I am planing to screw my sky filter in the front of the Polarizer filter, when I go to India to take photos in a dusty atmosphere. It will need less cleaning and protect the circular polarizer. |
